The Uniform

Jan, 17 by Nina.

Hi everyone, Audrey Neustadter here signing on with my first post as Ciao Bella!’s fashion editor. In recent years, editors have attained celebrity status in the fashion world alongside models and designers. I’m not certain these ladies were looking for it, but when you have dozens of street style bloggers posting pictures of your every outfit for the world (or at least those who care) to see, fame becomes inevitable.

So when news broke about mega star Paris Vogue’s Carine Roitfeld leaving her Editor-in-Chief chair, all eyes turned to her second in command, the much beloved fashion director Emmanuelle Alt. Sure enough, a few weeks after the announcement of Carine’s resignation, Emmanuelle was named Editor in Chief. There are a lot of things I have long admired about Emmanuelle’s fearless approach to her work. But there is one thing about Miss Alt that keeps me coming back for more. The woman is living proof that having amazing style is really not that complicated. All you need is to find your uniform, the one that works for you and you only. Once you’ve found it (after a few trials and errors), stick with it, play with it, keep finessing it, and from time to time make a few modifications here and there, but never stray too far from the original. Let’s take a look…

The uniform in all its glory: jeans, t-shirt, blazer, boots, perfection.

A simple switch of the blazer for the always "in" biker leather jacket. And a pair of pumps to soften the edges.

Variation on the same theme. Just with a little more volume.

Take a risk, drop it like it's hot.

The shorter the skirt, the higher the boots.

Like mother like daughter. Fashion does indeed run in the blood.

- Thank you to the lovely Audrey Melody Nelson, my darling French fashionista. x
